Mrs. Rhue Hodges of Bedford died suddenly at 6:30 p.m. Monday at her home there. Mrs. Hodges, 69, was the mother of Gene Hodges, vice president and manager of the personal loan department at the First National Bank & Trust Co., here. The deceased, a lifelong resident of Lawrence County, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bedford. She and her husband who survives, lived at 1815 Fourth St. A daughter of Elza Monroe and Margaret Bennett Blackburn she was born on April 14, 1899. She was reared in the Bedford-Oolitic area, and graduated from Oolitic High School in 1917. On Dec. 24, 1917, she was married to Palmer Hodges. Surviving besides her husband and the son here are another son, Army Maj. Kenneth Hodges of Ft. Walters, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Stapp of Bedford and Mrs. Margaret Bridwell of Bloomington; 15 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery near Bedford. Friends may call at the funeral home.--waw
